The question spinning in every mind upon entering Class 10 — “when is the exam, and how do I start preparing?” This guide has the probable schedule, subject-wise strategies and a working routine — so that you are ahead before February arrives.

Probable Timeline (Based on WBBSE’s Pattern)

Time What Happens
December 2026 Form filling and official routine published
February 2027 (mid) Probable exam start date
March 2027 Exams end
May 2027 (mid) Probable result publication period

Subject-Wise Strategy

  • Bengali / English: make it a habit to write at least one essay, letter and précis each week; analyse the question types (prose-verse-rapid reading) in advance
  • Mathematics: not all theory at once — write sums for 1 hour daily; get in the habit of drawing algebra-geometry figures by hand
  • Physical Science-Life Science: the habit of drawing and labelling diagrams raises marks; keep formulas in a separate notebook
  • History-Geography: pin maps and timelines on the wall; map marks come easily in the exam hall

A Working Routine (At a Glance)

  1. Morning (2 hours): memorisation subjects — English vocabulary, History, Life Science
  2. Noon/afternoon (2 hours): working through Mathematics and Physical Science sums
  3. Evening (1.5 hours): revision of the day’s classes + preparation for tomorrow
  4. One day a week: a timed exam using an old year’s question paper

Understand the Question Pattern

WBBSE has three types of questions — multiple choice (MCQ), short answer and descriptive. Solving the last 5 years’ papers shows you how many marks come from which chapter — this is the most effective preparation shortcut.

The Last 30 Days Before the Exam

  • Nothing new — only revision and question paper practice
  • Prepare your own hand-written short notes for every subject
  • Don’t cut sleep below 7 hours; staying up late actually lowers marks
  • Admit card, pencils-pens, watch in the bag the night before
