A petrol pump dealership can be a lifetime income stream — but applying in the wrong group, submitting incomplete papers or falling for an agent's trap costs both time and money. This pillar organises the entire journey into four sections: Petrol Pump Dealership, CNG Stations & CGD, NOC & Compliance and Dealership Finance.

Every figure is marked as approximate market/previous-advertisement level, and every guide carries a scam alert — because fraud in the name of fuel dealerships is now an industry of its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which group gives the best odds in a petrol pump dealership application?

If you own suitable land in the advertised location — in your own or an immediate family member's name — Group 1 is best: it gets first draw priority. Land elsewhere in the district qualifies for Group 2; no land means Group 3, where you must buy land if selected and post a higher deposit.

How much money is needed after being selected?

Roughly ₹25–50 lakh for a Rural RO and ₹1–1.5 crore or more for a Regular RO (more if land must be purchased). The security deposit alone is ₹5–15 lakh; most of the construction cost is financed through a bank loan against the OMC LOI.

How long does it take from selection to commissioning the pump?

Typically 6–12 months for all approvals (CLU, NHAI/PWD, fire, WBPCB, PESO, DM NOC) plus construction — longer if land records or highway access create friction.

Is there a separate advertisement for CNG stations?

No — CNG/PNG stations are built under the plan of the licensed CGD company for a Geographic Area (e.g. BGCL in Greater Kolkata). Individuals participate as landowners/partners, contracted operators or investors; agents charging a "franchise fee" are fraudsters.

An agent promises "guaranteed allotment" — should I believe it?

Never. OMC selection happens through an open draw or tender, and no fee is ever paid via UPI or a personal bank account. If defrauded, report immediately to the 1930 helpline or cybercrime.gov.in.
