The verification process for Annapurna Yojana, the revamped version of Lakshmir Bhandar, is now run through the state government’s new portal, socialregistry.wb.gov.in. Lakhs of women are logging into this portal to check their status — and many are seeing ‘Under Enquiry’, ‘For Further Verification’, or even ‘Rejected’. Panic naturally follows: Has my form been rejected? Will I not get the money after all?

Stop. Seeing a problem in your status does not mean your application has been rejected for good. The state government has built a Claim and Objection facility into the portal itself, through which wrongly rejected or stuck applications can be submitted for review. In this article you will learn — why the status looks like this, and how to file a claim online, step by step.

In short: Even if the status on socialregistry.wb.gov.in shows ‘Rejected’, there’s no need to panic. Log in through Citizen Login (mobile number + OTP), check the rejection reason under Track Application, select the correct reason under the Claim/Objection option there, upload your Aadhaar card and bank passbook, submit the review request, and save the Reference Number. If you can’t do it online, contact a Duare Sarkar camp or the block office.

1. First, Understand: ‘Under Enquiry’ and ‘Rejected’ Are Not the Same Thing

Each status you see on the portal reflects a different process. Misreading a status leads to unnecessary fear or wrong action.

Status What It Really Means What to Do
Under Enquiry / For Further Verification The block or municipality enquiry officer is verifying your details. This is not a rejection — the process is underway Wait, keep documents handy; check the status regularly
Rejected / Ineligible Verification found a mismatch on one of the conditions — but you have the right to lodge a claim against it File a Claim/Objection following the steps below

The Three Main Reasons for Rejection or Stuck Applications

On the new portal, new data is being matched against the massive old Lakshmir Bhandar and Swasthya Sathi databases. Most problems arise during this matching:

  1. Name spelling mismatch (Aadhaar Name Mismatch): If the name spelling differs slightly between the Aadhaar card, Swasthya Sathi card and bank account (e.g., “Mita Bibi” in one place and “Mita Bibi Biswas” in another), the system flags the application when it fails to match the records.
  2. Wrongly flagged as a government employee (Govt Employee Flag): Where the same name or same Aadhaar matched someone else’s government employment record, many ordinary women have been wrongly marked as government employees/pensioners. This is correctable through a claim.
  3. Duplicate bank account: If the same bank account (especially a joint account — e.g., mother-in-law and daughter-in-law sharing one account) is used in multiple applications, the system treats one as a duplicate and holds up the rest. For Annapurna/Lakshmir Bhandar money, a separate single account in your own name is the safest option.

2. Steps to File a Claim and Objection Online (Step-by-Step)

Before filing the claim, keep ready: scans or clear photos of your Aadhaar card, the first page of your bank passbook and your Swasthya Sathi card (in PDF/image format), and the mobile number used in the application.

Step 1: Go to the socialregistry.wb.gov.in portal in your browser. It is a government portal under the state Finance Department — trust only the .gov.in address.

Step 2: Click the Citizen Login option and enter the mobile number given in your application. Verify with the OTP sent to that number. (No password is needed; if the OTP doesn’t arrive, see the FAQ below.)

Step 3: Click Track Application or the status-related option on the dashboard to see your application’s current state and the rejection reason. Read the reason carefully — your claim must answer exactly this reason.

Step 4: If the status is Rejected/Ineligible, you will find a Claim / Objection / Lodge Grievance type option right next to it. Click it.

Step 5: Choose the correct reason for your objection from the dropdown — for example, “I am not a government employee” or “Name spelling correction”. Then upload the documents supporting your reason (Aadhaar card, bank passbook page, income certificate if needed). Provide exactly the documents that can counter the specific rejection reason.

Step 6: If everything is in order, press Submit. A Reference Number will appear on screen — write it down or take a screenshot. You will need this number to follow up on your claim later.

⚠️ Remember: Filing a claim does not guarantee approval — the enquiry officer will verify again. So all the information and documents you submit must be exactly correct; wrong information can get the claim rejected too.

3. Documents You Need to File a Claim

  • Aadhaar card — the name spelling should match the application; if it doesn’t, consider getting the Aadhaar corrected first
  • Swasthya Sathi card — for matching against the old database
  • First page of a single bank account passbook in your own name — account number and IFSC clearly visible
  • If wrongly flagged as a government employee: an income certificate or relevant certificate from the panchayat or municipality
  • Acknowledgement slip of the application / Application ID — verification is faster if you have it

4. If Online Doesn’t Work: The Offline Route

Not every village has a smartphone or an OTP-capable mobile — the government knows this too. If you have trouble filing a claim online:

  • Duare Sarkar camp: Visit your local camp and submit the application with documents, then collect the acknowledgement receipt.
  • Block office (rural) / Municipality (urban): Submit a written application at the social welfare section. You can use the application section of our Annapurna Bhandar payment problem guide as a sample.
  • Whichever route you use, be sure to keep proof of submission (receipt/acknowledgement).

5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. It shows ‘Under Enquiry’ — do I need to do anything?

No, this is a process-in-progress state. Keep the documents handy and check the status regularly. You don’t need to file a claim unless the status turns to ‘Rejected’.

2. How long does it take after submitting an objection?

There is no fixed deadline; verification generally takes a few weeks to a month or more. Keep the Reference Number and check the portal regularly.

3. Why is the OTP not arriving?

Because of server load. Don’t press ‘Generate OTP’ repeatedly; try early in the morning or at night. If the mobile number has changed, it must be corrected at the block/municipality office.

4. Can a claim be filed offline?

Yes — you can submit a written application with documents at a Duare Sarkar camp or the block office/municipality.

5. It wrongly shows me as a government employee — what should I do?

While filing the claim, select the relevant reason and upload your Aadhaar and income certificate; if needed, also submit a written application at the block office.

6. Beware of Fraud

🛡️ Warning: Fraud increases during the claim-objection period.

  • Don’t pay an agent to “fix your form” — filing a claim is completely free.
  • Never share your OTP, Aadhaar number or bank details over the phone or in messages. Government employees never ask for an OTP.
  • Contact only .gov.in portals such as socialregistry.wb.gov.in and socialsecurity.wb.gov.in, and the block office.

Questions People Ask About This Scheme

The status shows 'Under Enquiry' or 'For Further Verification' — what does it mean?

It means your application has not been rejected. The enquiry officer at the block or municipality level is verifying the information you provided (address, bank details, ineligibility for government jobs, etc.). During this time keep your Aadhaar card, bank passbook and acknowledgement slip handy — the enquiry officer or local-level staff may ask to see the documents. Once verification is complete, the status will update to approved or rejected.

How long does it take after submitting an Objection or Claim?

The government has not announced a fixed timeframe. In general experience, document verification at the block/sub-division level can take a few weeks to a month or more, because the enquiry officer has to verify the facts locally. Save the Reference Number shown after submitting and log in to the portal regularly to check the status.

Why is the OTP not arriving on the socialregistry portal?

When lakhs of people try to log in at the same time, the server comes under load and the OTP is delayed or does not arrive. Wait a while and try again, but don't press 'Generate OTP' repeatedly — it cancels the earlier request and causes more delay. Trying early in the morning or late at night usually helps.

My mobile number has changed — how do I do the Citizen Login now?

In Citizen Login, the OTP goes to the mobile number given in the application. If the number has changed, there is no option to change it online yourself — take your old and new mobile numbers, Aadhaar card and acknowledgement slip to the social welfare section of the block office (rural) or municipality (urban) and get the number corrected.

Can a Claim or Objection be filed offline?

Yes. If you have trouble applying online, you can submit a written application with documents at a Duare Sarkar camp or directly at the social welfare section of the block office (BDO) / municipality. In many areas special camps are also held for enquiries and claim submission — check the latest notice at the block office.

I am not a government employee, but the system has marked me as one. What should I do?

This is a common data-matching error on the new portal (duplicate names or wrong mapping). While submitting the Claim/Objection, choose this reason and upload an income certificate from the panchayat or municipality along with your Aadhaar card. If necessary, also submit a written application at the block office.
