How to apply online for Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana (MMSBY) 2026 in West Bengal - eligibility, exclusion rules and the full Rs 5 lakh cashless treatment coverage.
Tick off the required papers as you gather them for your application:
MMSBY, or Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana, is the West Bengal government’s new health insurance scheme, launched in July 2026. Its core purpose is to guarantee Rs 5 lakh of cashless treatment per year even for those who hold a Swasthya Sathi card but are not eligible for the central Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) scheme.
In plain terms: after Ayushman Bharat was launched, about 1.5 crore families of the state moved to the central scheme. MMSBY is meant precisely for those who remained on Swasthya Sathi but were left out under PM-JAY’s rules.
MMSBY has two main conditions:
There are also some exclusion rules — for example, you cannot apply if your annual income exceeds Rs 8 lakh. Read the detailed eligibility rules in our separate article: Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana Eligibility.
Go to the official portal swasthyasathi.gov.in and enter your registered mobile number or Swasthya Sathi registration number. This will show whether your family is on the PM-JAY list. If your name is on PM-JAY, use the Ayushman card itself — there is no need to apply for MMSBY.
If you are entirely new, register online from the portal itself, or submit a form at a Duare Sarkar camp, block office (BDO) or municipality office.
After government verification, the family’s MMSBY card will be created. At hospital admission, cashless treatment can be availed with this card or the portal’s digital record.
With the MMSBY card, cashless treatment is available at all government medical colleges and district hospitals in West Bengal and at more than 1,300 empanelled private hospitals in the state. The card also works at Ayushman Bharat empanelled hospitals outside the state — for instance, for certain complex treatments at CMC Vellore.

No. No separate new portal has been launched for MMSBY. Eligibility verification and enrolment happen on the main Swasthya Sathi portal, swasthyasathi.gov.in. Be wary of any other 'MMSBY apply' website or app.
Only if your family is not on the Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) list will it need to come under MMSBY. First check on the portal with your mobile number or registration number which list your name appears on.
