West Bengal Voter List 2026 — Name Check, SIR Update & Form 6/8 Online Application
A complete guide to checking your name on the West Bengal voter list, SIR-2026 updates, adding a new voter (Form 6) and corrections (Form 8) on ceowestbengal.nic.in and voters.eci.gov.in.
Introduction
Panchayat votes, municipal votes or any upcoming election — first of all you need to be sure that your name is on the voter list. Even with a voter card in hand, many names have been dropped in the SIR process, so it is wise to verify once online now.
SIR-2026 — What Happened in West Bengal
The Election Commission conducted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal in 2025–26 — re-verifying every voter’s details and removing deceased, transferred and duplicate names before publishing new draft and final lists. The practical side:
- Those who could not submit their documents on time or attend hearings may have had their names dropped.
- Every district portal has published the SIR draft roll and a list of voters who “were on the 2025 list but are not in the 2026 draft”.
- Dropped voters can re-register using Form 6.
Two Ways to Check Your Name
- If you know your EPIC number: voters.eci.gov.in → Search in Electoral Roll → EPIC number + state → booth, part number and roll status.
- If you don’t know the number: search using name, father’s name, age, district and Assembly constituency. District-wise lists can also be downloaded from the state’s own portal, ceowestbengal.nic.in.
Form 6, 8 and 8A — Which One, When
| Form | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Form 6 | Add a new voter’s name (turned 18, or name not on the list) |
| Form 8 | Correction of spelling, address, photo or date of birth |
| Form 8A | Transfer to a different booth within the same constituency |
All forms are submitted free of charge on voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline app; after submission, check the status with your application number.

❓ Frequently asked questions
What is SIR and what is its impact in West Bengal?
SIR or Special Intensive Revision is the Election Commission's special comprehensive revision process, in which the names of deceased, transferred, duplicate and voters registered elsewhere are removed from the list to clean it up. As a result of SIR, the 2026 list in West Bengal changed significantly — so it is essential to verify your name again.
What should I do if my name was dropped in SIR?
First search on the portal to confirm the name really is missing. Then apply afresh using Form 6 and, if needed, contact the BLO (Booth Level Officer). The relevant district portal also publishes a list of voters dropped in SIR.
I have lost my voter card but my name is on the list — what should I do?
If you know your EPIC number, download the e-EPIC (digital voter card) — under the 'Download e-EPIC' option on voters.eci.gov.in. If you don't know the number either, retrieve it using your name details through the portal's search tool.
