Go to the portal

Open food.wb.gov.in and go to the 'e-KYC of Ration Card' section (it opens on mobile too).

Enter the ration card number

Search using the ration card's digital number — you will see the list of members and whose e-KYC is still pending.

Verify with Aadhaar

Enter each pending member's Aadhaar number → an OTP will arrive on the mobile linked to that Aadhaar → enter the OTP and verification is complete.

Save the receipt

Once e-KYC is complete, download and keep the receipt/reference number.

Download the digital ration card

Once every member's KYC is done, download the digital ration card PDF from the same portal.

What if no mobile number is linked to Aadhaar?

Update the mobile number at the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra — without it, the OTP will not arrive online. Then do e-KYC again, or complete biometric verification at the Food Office.

Does e-KYC increase or decrease the ration?

e-KYC is only verification — the ration quantity and category (PHH/APL/Antyodaya) remain unchanged. In fact, if verification is not done, your benefits and ration risk getting blocked.

How do I add a new member (marriage/birth)?

Submit a member-addition form at the Food Office or through the portal's application section — with birth/marriage certificates and Aadhaar. Under the 'One Nation One Ration Card' rules, members can also be transferred from one state to another.

The Food Department is now making Aadhaar-based e-KYC mandatory for all ration cards — without verification, renewal and ration supply can be held up. Good news: the entire process can be done from your mobile phone.

Step-by-step online e-KYC

  1. Open food.wb.gov.in → the ‘e-KYC of Ration Card’ section
  2. Search by ration card number → check the member list to see who still needs verification
  3. Enter the Aadhaar number → an OTP will arrive on the mobile linked to the Aadhaar
  4. Enter the OTP → verification complete; download the reference receipt
  5. When everyone is done, download the digital ration card PDF

If the OTP doesn’t arrive on your mobile

  • Check whether a mobile number is linked to the Aadhaar — if not, get it updated at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra
  • For the elderly/unwell, the Food Office offers a biometric (fingerprint/iris) verification alternative
  • e-KYC is also done at ‘Digital Road’ camps — in villages, go on the announced day and you won’t need to visit the office

  • Renewal and status can be checked online
  • If you travel to another state, you can collect ration there under the ONORC (One Nation One Ration Card) rules

Status and complaints

  • Status check: enter the ration card number on the portal — KYC status, member list and ration details are all visible
  • If a name is missing/incorrect: file a correction application at the Food Office; keep the name and address consistent across Aadhaar, bank and ration records
  • If you don’t get ration at the shop: complain on the helpline 18003455505 — with your receipt number
